Job summary

Eisai US is seeking a Senior Manager, Patent Information Scientist (Chemist) to lead complex chemical patent, literature, and competitive intelligence research. You will work with IP attorneys, scientists, and business stakeholders to shape IP strategy and support patent filings, IP due diligence, and freedom-to-operate assessments.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or M.S. in Chemistry with related experience in patent searching.
• 6–10+ years of chemical patent searching with pharma IP exposure.
• Ability to review scientific and patent documents for relevance.
• Expertise with chemical structure, Markush, and reaction searches.
• Experience with LexisNexis for legal research.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patent, literature, and drug pipeline searches.
• Define search needs with IP attorneys and scientists.
• Perform chemical structure/Markush/reaction searches.
• Conduct patent status research, monitoring, alerts.
• Evaluate new search platforms and AI-enabled resources.
• Provide ad hoc assistance on information access and issues.
