Job summary

Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) is seeking a part-time laboratory assistant to maintain and organize Chemistry laboratories and support Chemistry faculty and staff as needed.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field and 2 years of experience, with a strong emphasis on safety and precise inventory management. All work is performed on-site in Pennsylvania, with no remote option.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field required.
• 2 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares chemistry laboratories, equipment, materials, reagents, and solutions for scheduled laboratory activities.
• Sets up and breaks down laboratory experiments and demonstrations per procedures.
• Ensures sufficient quantities of chemicals, supplies, glassware, and equipment; orders supplies as needed.
• Follows and promotes College laboratory safety policies and Chemical Hygiene Plan procedures.
• Maintains labeling, storage, handling, and use of chemicals and laboratory materials.
• Assists with chemical waste collection, labeling, storage, and disposal per College procedures and regulations.
• Maintains safety documentation, chemical inventories, SDSs, and laboratory records.
• Maintains accurate inventory of chemicals, supplies, glassware, instrumentation, and other instructional materials.
• Communicates effectively with faculty and College staff regarding laboratory needs, equipment issues, supply requirements, and safety concerns.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
