Job summary

Washington State University in Pullman, WA, invites applications for an Instructional & Classroom Support Technician 3 to advance safety and efficiency in undergraduate chemistry labs. You will coordinate laboratory safety programs, manage equipment and chemicals, oversee hazardous waste processes, and support faculty TAs and student workers.

The role requires a chemistry-related bachelor's degree and relevant experience, plus willingness to work evenings. A master's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or closely related field and two years of full-time experience as a Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 2 or equivalent education/experience.
• Must be willing and able to work evenings, with notice.
• Red Cross first aid training, including CPR, within 6 months of hire.
• Master’s degree in chemistry and two years teaching/supervising General Chemistry laboratories is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate implementation of laboratory safety practices for undergraduate instructional labs and stockrooms.
• Oversee laboratory preparation activities, equipment and chemical management, and safety compliance programs.
• Manage hazardous waste processes and instructional laboratories operations.
• Provide technical and operational support to faculty teaching assistants and student employees; coordinate staffing, training and resources.
• Develop and maintain training programs and compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with departmental leadership to improve lab operations and safety practices.
