Job summary

Salem-Academy-and-Colleg Chemistry Department is seeking a Lab Assistant to support instructional laboratories. The role involves preparing equipment, chemicals, and glassware; setting up and cleaning up labs; and maintaining a safe, organized workspace for students.

The assistant will monitor supplies, assist with routine procedures, and ensure adherence to chemical hygiene and safety standards. The position requires lifting up to 25 pounds and standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory equipment, chemicals, glassware, and supplies for laboratory classes.
• Set up and clean up chemistry laboratories before and after lab sessions.
• Clean, organize, and properly store laboratory equipment, glassware, and chemicals.
• Monitor laboratory supply inventory and notify faculty when materials need to be replenished.
• Assist faculty with routine laboratory preparation and basic laboratory procedures.
• Follow all chemical hygiene and laboratory safety procedures, including the proper handling and disposal of chemical waste.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Chemistry Department.
