The Chair is expected to promote student success, foster inclusive excellence, and strengthen faculty development through mentorship, assessment, and campus-wide

Qualifications

• Earned Ph.D. in Chemistry from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in higher education (department/center-level).
• Evidence of successful research activity with publications and/or external grants.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Commitment to student success and inclusive excellence in STEM.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic, administrative, and strategic leadership for the Department of Chemistry.
• Lead departmental planning, assessment, and program development.
• Promote excellence in undergraduate and graduate education with curriculum development.
• Advance externally funded research and interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Foster partnerships with industry, government, and research institutions.
• Represent the department within the university and scientific communities.
• Teach courses and maintain an active scholarly agenda appropriate to rank.
