Job summary

Amentum is seeking a chemist for a role located in the United States. The position requires a B.S. in Chemistry or a related field and at least two years in a laboratory setting.

The job involves applying chemical markings, detection techniques, and spectral analysis to meet customer needs. Responsibilities include research, analysis, reporting, and supporting field collection. A Top Secret clearance with CI polygraph ability is required.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with spectroscopy preferred, and experience with material markings, spectral analysis and optical filtration techniques.
• Experience with ENVI+IDL image and spectral processing software is a plus.

Job description

Responsibilities include using a range of techniques, software and equipment to carry out scientifically rigorous research, analysis, and reporting.

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include applying knowledge of and experience with chemical markings and detection techniques tailored to the specific requirements, identify and utilize materials and detections systems that meet customer requirements, evaluate technical reports from outside vendors for suitability to meet customer requirements, and support field collection and analysis requirements

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Office environment.

Some climbing and unassisted lifting up to 30 lbs. potentially required.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

The position requires a B.S. in Chemistry or similar field and 2 years working in a laboratory environment.

Security Clearance Required:

Top Secret with ability to pass a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph

Minimum Education:

B.S. in Chemistry or similar field

Minimum Years of Experience:

2 years working in a laboratory environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with spectroscopy preferred. Preferred experience in the following: Work experience with material markings, spectral analysis, and optical filtration techniques. Familiarity with spectroscopy, or a closely related field. Laboratory experience using spectroscopic techniques for analysis and identification of materials. Experience with ENVI+IDL image and spectral processing software.

Compensation Details:

US:$70,000 - $75,000
