Rockline Industries in Morristown, TN, is seeking a Chemist II to ensure compliance with ISO, USP, CFR and other regulatory requirements in the laboratory, and to uphold cGMP practices.

The role covers microbiological, chemical and physical testing, environmental monitoring, documentation, and data integrity. You will work with cross-functional teams to maintain product quality, safety and regulatory readiness in a climate-controlled facility.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Chemistry or Biology or Physics.
• 3-5 years experience in a QC Lab (FDA or Pharma environment preferred).
• Qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis skills; strong math.
• Strong computer and network systems knowledge.
• Ability to perform under fast pace and high stress while maintaining RFT results.
• Experience investigating out-of-spec test results (FDA guidance knowledge preferred).
• ACS courses/certificates or related online coursework.

Responsibilities

• Microbiological testing: sample prep, USP <61>, <62>, aseptic technique, environmental monitoring.
• Chemical testing: GC, HPLC/uHPLC, titration, solution prep, TOC, FTIR, UV/Vis, pH/density/conductivity; gas bottle and generator maintenance.
• Physical testing: measurements of weights, diameters, thickness, volume, integrity, flow rates.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Chemist II will be responsible for ensuring compliance with ISO, USP, CFR and other regulatory entities. Also responsible for ensuring the cGMP requirements are followed in the laboratory.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Microbiological Testing
  • Sample preparation and testing following USP <61>, <62> and associated chapters
  • Aseptic technique in liquid and swabbing of samples
  • Gram staining and phenotypic ID using API
  • Environmental Monitoring in Plant and for Personnel
  • Maintain Microbiological Notebooks and digital records
  • CPM of Plant Systems and Laboratory Controls
• Chemical Testing
  • GC - Maintenance and Operation
  • HPLC or uHPLC - Maintenance and Operation
  • Titration via manual or auto-titrator
  • Solution preparations and Standard preparations and storage
  • TOC - Maintenance and Operation

  • High Pressure gas bottle and Gas Generator maintenance

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential accountabilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)

• BS degree in Chemistry or Biology or Physics
• 3-5 years experience in a QC Lab (preferably in an FDA or Pharma environment)
• Qualitative and quantitative Chemical analysis skills. Strong math skills.
• Strong Computer and Network Systems knowledge and application
• Ability to handle a fast pace, high stress environment while still maintaining RFT testing results
• Investigating Out of specification (OOS) test results (preferable knowledge of FDA Guidance)Demonstrated strong analytical instrumentation trouble shooting skills
• Advanced problem-solving skills, demonstrated self-driven innovative approaches to roadblocks
• Attendance at ACS Short Courses and Certificates, or Short Courses online
