Position Summary

The Chemist II/III in the Steel Cold Rolling Lab will execute development assignments, determine tests under supervision, and support Quaker Houghton cold rolling fluids in use at customer accounts with analysis and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve chemical products used in manufacturing and mechanical systems to meet customer needs and provide application solutions.
• Independently carry out tests and determinations to answer customer questions and address problems.
• Work on product development projects assigned by the manager.
• Execute analytical tests to determine quantitative and qualitative composition of raw materials, formulations, competitive products, and other chemical (field) samples.
• Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings clearly and concisely.
• Assist in troubleshooting Quaker Houghton cold rolling fluids used at customer accounts.
• Frequent manipulation of samples, apparatus, and sensitive instruments; stand, reach, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform tasks required by the role.

Qualifications

• At least 5+ years of chemistry experience.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in chemistry or a related scientific discipline (Bachelor’s required; advanced degrees considered).
• Knowledge of colloid chemistry, surfactants, and tribology.
• Experience with lubricant fluid formulation and field support.
• Ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment, manage multiple projects, and think analytically.
• Strong analytical, communication, service‑oriented, organizational, flexible, and initiative‑driven skills.
• Physical capability to manipulate samples, lift up to 25 pounds, stand, reach, and perform required tasks.
