Job summary

The Chemist II position in Tallahassee is part of the Division of Environmental Assessment and Restoration’s Chemistry Program, Nutrients section. Position Overview and Responsibilities

The Chemist II position, 37020836, is in the Division of Environmental Assessment and Restoration’s Chemistry Program, Nutrients section, in Tallahassee. The incumbent will be responsible for the analysis of environmental samples for nutrients, inorganic anions, and other related compounds. This work is critical for the assessment of water quality and restoration projects for the State of Florida.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of terminology, principles and techniques of chemical research, analysis or testing.
• Knowledge of the procedures, techniques and equipment used in laboratory testing and analysis.
• Skill in the use of laboratory equipment and materials.
• Skill in performing laboratory tests, or analyses, or preparations.
• Ability to perform all calculations and assessments necessary to report data in compliance with all applicable rules.
• Ability to understand and follow technical instructions relating to laboratory testing and analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least five (5) years of verifiable related experience in chemistry, environmental sciences, natural sciences, biological sciences, or physical sciences . Post-secondary degrees may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis. A credential evaluation report from an approved agency must be submitted along with all foreign degrees.
• Participate in the DEP Medical Monitoring Program as position is Medical Monitored

Preferred Qualifications

At least 2 years of experience performing Total Suspended Solids/Total Dissolved Solids (TSS/TDS) analysis.

Pay

$3,945.84 (Monthly)
