Position Summary

The Chemist II conducts testing on raw materials, active ingredients, and finished products, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include developing protocols, analyzing data, maintaining lab equipment, and collaborating on test procedures while adhering to safety guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducts testing on raw materials, active pharmaceutical ingredients, and finished products using techniques like High-Pressure Liquid Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, Ultraviolet Visible Spectroscopy and other lab instruments as applicable, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Develops and follows experimental protocols, maintains accurate records per Standard Operating Procedures, and ensures data accuracy under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and current Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Analyzes data, identifies trends, and prepares detailed reports and presentations to support quality control and product development.
  • Operates, maintains, and calibrates laboratory equipment, troubleshoots issues, and ensures timely repairs for consistent functionality.
  • Collaborates on test procedures, manages reagent inventory, and adheres to safety and regulatory guidelines while supporting quality control audits.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Extensive knowledge of cGMP, United States Pharmacopeia, International Conference on Harmonization, and Food and Drug Administration requirements, with quality control experience in generic pharmaceutical industries and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
