We are looking for a Chemist II to join our Group Research Team in Attapulgus.

The Group Research Team (RG) is searching for a skilled and experienced Research Specialist to join our organization. This challenging opportunity requires expertise in process research, product development, and scale-up to support our esteemed BASF business partners throughout North America.

Our group focusses on the research, development, scale up and testing of innovative catalyst for the refining/FCC market. As a Chemist II, you will execute projects focused on developing new innovative products either for FCC base catalysts or additives. Your role will also include scale-up and development of such products to commercial scale. The role could also include development of deactivation/testing methods.

As a Chemist II, you create chemistry by...
  • Utilizing your advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science to drive development of new catalyst formulations, improvement of existing products while working with technicians in the lab, pilot plant and plant trial activities.
  • Conducting well designed, safe laboratory and pilot plant experiments, submitting samples for analysis and interpreting results with minimal supervision
  • Executing plant trials to demonstrate successful technology transfer of new catalyst formulations to plant production.
  • Leveraging your problem-solving abilities, to work with team leader or other colleagues to optimize performance of existing products or processes.
  • Providing and communicating results in an impactful matter to relevant stakeholders in the form of presentations or reports.
  • Managing and leading technicians and carrying out performance reviews etc.
  • CreatingStandard operating procedures and actively participatingin all BASF safety practices and programs.
If you...
  • Have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material science with no industry experience OR a M.S. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science with 3+ years of industry experience. Related experience in catalyst development is a plus.
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of research principles and techniques with proven ability to also work outside the field of specialization. Familiarity with heterogeneous catalysis formulations and manufacturing is a plus.
  • Have strong written/verbal communication, data analysis, organization, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Havea background in use of statistical tools such as DOE is a plus
  • Demonstrate strong digitization skills as a plus
  • Are proficient with MS Office tools.
