Job summary

The Chemist I at Ash Grove Cement, under the guidance of the Shift Supervisor and/or Laboratory Manager, will sample and analyze hazardous and non-hazardous waste samples in accordance with the facility Waste Analysis Plan.

You will perform related duties to ensure timely, thorough, and cost-effective analysis, maintain laboratory safety, operate instruments (calorimeters, pH unit, ICP, XRF, and more), and support the Waste Analysis Plan requirements.

Qualifications

• A 2 year degree in chemistry or related field is preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.
• Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
• Proficient in analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Sample and analyze hazardous and non-hazardous waste samples according to the Waste Analysis Plan.
• Follow Waste Analysis Plan requirements and operate calorimeters, pH meters, ICP, XRF, and related equipment.
• Maintain overall cleanliness of laboratory areas and assist with inventory management.
• Complete chain-of-custody forms and document analytical results accurately.
• Support safety programs and adhere to Chemical Hygiene Plan and plant safety guidelines.
