This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits
This position qualifies for a hybrid telework option, allowing routine office and remote workdays. The NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at management's discretion.
This Chemist I will inspect certificate holder facilities to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including NC Laboratory Certification Branch rules (e.g., 15A NCAC 02H .0800), US EPA Code of Federal Regulations, and EPA- and DEQ-mandated methodologies for environmental parameters.
The Division protects North Carolina’s water resources through permitting, investigations, compliance, monitoring, and more. Qualifications:
Applicants must demonstrate these qualifications on their application. Education and experience can be combined to meet the requirements. A bachelor’s degree in chemistry and two years of related laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination, is required.
