Job summary

Elasa, based in Mission Viejo, CA, seeks a Chemist I to support R&D and QA testing. The role involves preparing reagent solutions and performing chemical, physical, and microbiological testing on materials for stability and product development.

The candidate will ensure GMP processes and accurate documentation under supervision. Ideal hires hold a BS or BA in a science field with at least one year of related experience and familiarity with basic analytical instrumentation, HPLC, and aseptic

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) from four-year college or university, and minimum of one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Fundamentals of chemical reagent preparation for chemical or microbiological testing.
• Working knowledge of basic analytical instrumentation in the R&D lab (pH meters, balances, glassware, autoclaves).
• Familiarity with HPLC instrumentation, software, troubleshooting and data handling is a plus.

We are seeking a talented Chemist to join the R&D team at a privately held, family-owned health and wellness company that manufactures and distributes high-quality dietary supplements based on scientific research.

Job Title: Chemist I

Location: Mission Viejo, CA

Schedule: M-F, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Pay Rate: $27-$32/hr. DOE

Job Duty

• Preparation of reagent solutions for physical, chemical and microbiological testing.
  
• Performs various chemical, physical and microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process materials or finished products for stability and product development activities.
  
• Verifies the accuracy and completeness of testing and paperwork related to finished products.
  
• Maintains Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) at company under supervision.
  
• Records information necessary for GMP or thorough related investigation of testing assigned.
  
• Performs any other necessary job duties as assigned by Management.

Experience Required

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) from four-year college or university, and minimum of one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Skill or Education

• Fundamentals of chemical reagent preparation for chemical or microbiological testing.
  
• Fundamentals of knowledge of basic analytical instrumentation within the R&D laboratory to include, but not limited to: Analytical balances, pH meters, autopipettes, volumetric glassware, autoclaves, etc.
  
• Working knowledge of the principles of HPLC instrumentation, software, troubleshooting and handling of analytical data is a plus.
  
• Ability to be trained for aseptic technique as applied to testing probiotic viability.
  
• Ability to perform job responsibilities under minimal supervision.
  
• Ability to neatly and accurately record and report analytical data.
