  • Conduct chemical analysis and experiments in various fields, including organic, inorganic, and analytical chemistry.
  • Support and handle samples for testing, ensuring adherence to SOPs and experimental protocols.
  • Assist in the development, testing and optimization of chemical processes and formulations.
  • Support senior chemists and other team members with project-based work.
  • Support the interpretation of experimental results and provide data driven conclusions.
  • Document experimental procedures, results and data.
  • Assist with the maintenance of laboratory instruments and other analytical tools ensuring calibration and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety protocols, regulatory guidelines, and industry best practices.
  • Continuously review and stay up to date with the latest scientific literature, emerging technologies, and industry trends.
  • Any other duties and tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Job Summary

The Chemist I position is designed for a developing chemist with basic scientific knowledge and understanding in laboratory techniques, analysis and problem solving. This position will work closely with other chemists and technicians to assist in the analysis of a wide range of customer samples and projects. The Chemist I is responsible for performing the analysis of sample materials using various analytical techniques to obtain both qualitative and quantitative data. This position also involves the use of analytical instrumentation to investigate the cause of chemical issues and problems.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct chemical analysis and experiments in various fields, including organic, inorganic, and analytical chemistry.
  • Support and handle samples for testing, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and experimental protocols.
  • Assist in the development, testing and optimization of chemical processes and formulations.

Education / Work Experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject.

Requirements
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of difficult sample collection, preparations, and the most advanced analytical methods. Ability to demonstrate full competency in all regulatory and non-regulatory sample workflows.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of complicated matrices from extractions of analytes and E&L.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of conventional and advanced quantitative methods.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of applicable instrumental and data interpretation software.Basic knowledge in method development and method validation.
  • Ability to review analytical reports for accuracy, scientific content and readability.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and work with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform work accurately and efficiently.
  • Computer proficiency and experience with all MS products
  • Computer skills proficiency and ability to learn new software.
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and learn new disciplines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates the drive and energy to be effective.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will have no supervisory responsibilities.

Salary: $63,000-$72,000

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role is based in a laboratory setting and involves regular use of lab equipment, instrumentation, and standard safety protocols. The employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods, and may need to bend, reach, kneel, or crouch to access equipment or samples. This role typically involves lifting or carrying items up to 25 lbs, with occasional lifting up to 25 lbs, and may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
