Job summary

Mayvin is seeking a skilled Chemist in the DC metropolitan area to support the Interdiction Technology Branch’s Rapid Technology Assessment team. The role is based at the INTERDICT Science Center in Ashburn, VA and requires a US citizenship.

Responsibilities include assessing COTS chemical identification equipment, writing test plans and reports, conducting chemical analyses and material testing, and coordinating with DHS/CBP and other agencies. Up to 25% travel and a day shift are typical.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory technology, tools, and tests.

Responsibilities

  • Assess COTS equipment for performance and suitability; primarily Chem ID equipment.
  • Write and brief plans, results, and reports on assessment findings to sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Develop and conduct tests for chemical ingredients, substances, and materials.
  • Analyze substances to determine composition and concentration of elements.
  • Travel up to 25%; work indoors/outdoors for data collection at labs, FOLs, and POEs.
