Job summary

Sunrider Manufacturing is seeking a chemist to conduct cosmetics research and quality control. You will analyze chemical processes, perform QC tests, and record data in the Cosmetic Lab, ensuring Sunrider specifications are met.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in science and at least 2 years of related experience, with strong data analysis and report writing skills. A 4/10 work schedule and in-house gym are offered as part of the benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline and 2 years related experience.
  • Ability to read technical procedures and regulations; write reports and manuals.
  • Proficient in applying statistical quality control methods.
  • Knowledge of cosmetic chemistry and lab instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Study effects of processing, preservation, and packaging on cosmetic products.
  • Perform quality control tests in the Cosmetics Department and processing.
  • Record test data and apply statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluate data and write reports to validate deviations from standards.
  • Audit batch records and maintain lab records.
  • Recommend modifications to achieve optimum quality within equipment limits.
  • Analyze new products and adjust batches for Sunrider specifications.

SUMMARY

Conducts research and analysis concerning chemistry of cosmetics by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Studies effects of various methods of processing, preservation, and packaging on composition and properties of foods such as color, texture, aroma, taste, shelf life.
  • Performs quality control tests in Cosmetics Department and processing.
  • Ability to use instruments in Cosmetic Lab.
  • Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Audits batch records and maintains recordkeeping in the Cosmetic Lab.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Analyzes new compounded products, intermediate and finished products following Sunrider's specifications and performs required analysis such as: viscosity, pH, moisture, specific gravity, and others.
  • Analyzes cosmetic bulk materials and provides adjustments of batches when necessary.
  • Approves/rejects compounded products, intermediate and finished products based upon Sunrider's specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in a scientific discipline from four-year college or university; and a minimum of 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from departmental manager/supervisor or other employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, and quadratic equations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram forum and deal with several abstract and concrete variable.
