Ascensus Specialties LLC is seeking a detail‑oriented Purchasing Specialist I to source and purchase specialty chemicals at our Newburyport, MA site. You will manage catalog categories, suppliers, and the full procurement lifecycle to ensure product availability and compliant documentation.

You will collaborate with Sales, Product Management, Quality, EHS, Regulatory, Warehouse, and Finance to optimize cost structures, lead times, and supply continuity while adhering to safety and quality

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Chemistry, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Two to five years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related experience; chemical‑industry or catalog‑distribution experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of purchase order workflows, RFQs, inventory planning concepts, supplier management, and total landed cost calculations.
• Familiarity with chemical identifiers and core technical documentation, including CAS numbers, specifications, SDS, TDS, and Certificates of Analysis (CoA).
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsabilités

• Source and purchase specialty chemicals to support the catalog chemical business.
• Manage assigned product categories across the procurement lifecycle from supplier qualification through PO placement and delivery tracking.
• Coordinate with Quality, EHS, Regulatory, Sales, and Finance to ensure availability, cost competitiveness, and supply continuity.
• Issue RFQs, evaluate supplier offers based on specs, lead time, and total landed cost; negotiate terms and pricing.
• Maintain supplier documentation (SDS, CoA, technical data) and ensure compliance in ERP/catalog systems.
