Job summary

Element Solutions Inc is seeking a hands-on Chemical Scale-Up Technician to join our manufacturing team in New Jersey. You will help translate lab-scale innovations into pilot and production scale, ensuring safe, reproducible processes and efficient scale-up.

The role requires an Associate degree with up to two years in lab, engineering, or manufacturing, plus strong data collection, equipment operation, and safety discipline. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent in chemical engineering technology, chemistry, biotechnology, process technology or related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Up to two years of experience in a lab, engineering, production, or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Basic experience operating equipment, mechanical aptitude, and ability to troubleshoot process or equipment issues.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office apps to organize, review, and summarize process data.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to document data accurately.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and ability to work across teams.
  • Strong safety awareness and knowledge of chemical-handling requirements and spill-response procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support scale-up from laboratory to pilot and production, ensuring reproducibility and safety.
  • Operate, set up, maintain reactors, mixers, filtration systems, and other chemical processing equipment.
  • Record process parameters, monitor reactions, and analyze results to optimize performance.
  • Identify and resolve process issues during scale-up trials in collaboration with engineers and chemists.
  • Maintain accurate records of procedures, observations, and outcomes for regulatory and internal reporting.
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with environmental and quality standards.

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Chemical Scale-Up Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in chemical processing and a passion for translating lab-scale innovations into full-scale manufacturing. You’ll be instrumental in bridging the gap between R&D and production, ensuring processes are safe, efficient, and scalable.

What will you be doing?
  • Support Scale-Up Activities: Assist in scaling chemical processes from laboratory to pilot and production scale, ensuring reproducibility and safety.
  • Operate Equipment: Set up, operate, and maintain reactors, mixers, filtration systems, and other chemical processing equipment.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Record process parameters, monitor reactions, and analyze results to optimize performance.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve process issues during scale-up trials, working closely with engineers and chemists.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of procedures, observations, and outcomes for regulatory and internal reporting.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow strict safety protocols and ensure compliance with environmental and quality standards.
Who are You?
  • Education: Associate degree in Chemical Engineering Technology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Process Technology, or a related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Up to two years of experience in a laboratory, engineering, production, or manufacturing environment is preferred. Recent graduates with a completed degree may be considered.
  • Technical Skills: Basic experience operating equipment, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to troubleshoot process or equipment issues.
  • Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to organize, review, and summarize process data.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately record and review data.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work across teams.
  • Safety: Strong safety awareness and the ability to understand and follow safety data sheets, chemical-handling requirements, and spill-response procedures.
What competencies will you need?
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of chemical engineering principles, reaction kinetics, and process equipment.
  • Hands-On Experience: Prior experience in chemical manufacturing, pilot plant operations, or lab-scale synthesis.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues independently.
  • Communication Skills: Clear written and verbal communication for reporting and collaboration.
  • IT & Data Skills: Familiarity with data logging systems, spreadsheets, and basic analytical tools.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Knowledge of GMP, ISO, or other relevant standards is a plus.

Salary range this role is between $28.90 and $37.36 per hour DOE and Education
