Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks a Research Technologist 2 to support Sigma Operations through chemical management, safety, compliance, and process improvement. You will identify moderate problems, implement improved processes, and provide best-practice guidance for the division.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience, with a focus on standardizing procedures, inventories, labeling, and regulatory compliance. Onsite work in Los Alamos, NM is expected.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge in chemical management, safety/compliance, materials handling, or related field.
• Experience developing or improving processes that align with regulatory requirements (10 CFR 851, OSHA 29 CFR 1910).
• Ability to build stakeholder buy-in and guide others in adopting new processes.
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to safety, security, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement chemical management safety program for Sigma, standardizing procedures and tools.
• Lead analysis of processes to identify gaps and implement solutions to improve safety and compliance.
• Collaborate with technical staff and stakeholders to resolve chemical management issues.
• Develop procedures and job aids aligning with DOE/NNSA and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze chemical inventory and storage data to identify trends and corrective actions.
• Communicate requirements and recommendations to management and staff.
