The role emphasizes design of bench-scale and pilot-scale systems, analytical characterization, and cross-functional collaboration to hit technical milestones in a government‑contracted program.

Qualifications

• Hands-on laboratory or pilot-plant experience required.
• Experience with bench- and pilot-scale systems preferred.
• Knowledge of chemical analysis methods and lab instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Design and assemble bench- and pilot-scale systems (high‑pressure/high‑temperature experience a plus).
• Work with water purification and gas separation processes as part of R&D.
• Develop materials using electroplating, 3D printing, or composites.
• Perform chemical characterization using GC, LC, TGA/DSC/FTIR/UV.
• Collaborate across teams, possibly on PLCs, LabVIEW, and P&ID/PFD design.
• Support product rotation within development teams.

Position Summary

We are seeking a talented, hands‑on R&D chemical engineer or chemist to join our team. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of clean-tech research in areas such as thermochemical biofuel production, advanced water recycling, adsorption technology (VSA/PSA), composite materials, and chemicals processing.

We are interested in applicants at all degree levels with specific experience in, but not limited to, one or more of the following areas:

• Reactor Design and Integration: Design and assembly of bench-scale and pilot-scale systems (experience with high-pressure/high-temperature reactors is a plus)
• Separation and Purification: Hands‑on experience with water purification technologies (RO, filtration, general desalination) and gas-phase separations
• Advanced Fabrication: Experience with electroplating, 3D printing, or composite material synthesis
• Analytical Characterization: Proficiency in chemical characterization techniques such as gas chromatography (GC), liquid chromatography, TGA, DSC, FTIR and UV spectroscopy, and wet‑lab instrumentation.
• Systems Engineering: Experience with LabVIEW programming, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electronic systems assembly, and P&ID/PFD design
• Product Rotation: Role may include rotations on product development teams for new chemical‑related HVAC/R products

Position Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
• Work experience (0-2+ years)
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent required due to US Government ITAR restrictions
• GPA > 3.3 at all degree levels
• Demonstrated experience in a hands‑on laboratory or pilot‑plant setting
• Strong mechanical aptitude and "maker" mindset for building custom apparatus
