Job summary

Richardson Electronics, Ltd. seeks a Chemical Process Technician II to clean, treat, and plate components in the plating department.

You will monitor baths, mix chemicals, and perform routine maintenance in line with process instructions and ISO-9001 guidelines. The role requires 3–5 years of plating and cleaning experience with copper, nickel and silver plating, plus safety training for hazardous materials; wastewater treatment exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years’ experience in plating and cleaning operations.
  • Copper, nickel and silver plating experience required.
  • Experience with wastewater treatment systems desirable.
  • Must be safety oriented with hazardous waste and chemical training.

Responsibilities

  • Plates, cleans, and treats components per process instructions and may teach plating to others.
  • Maintain records of operations and ISO-9001 guidance compliance.
  • Assist in writing new parts processing instructions.
  • Mix chemicals and solutions per documentation.
  • Operate plating analysis equipment to inspect work by measurement and appearance.
  • Move and manage chemical supplies and hazardous waste safely.
  • Make equipment adjustments to ensure product quality.
  • Write work orders for maintenance/repair of plating equipment.
  • Analyze process solutions and adjust chemistries as needed.
  • Assist wastewater treatment monitoring and controls.
  • Adhere to company safety, policies and housekeeping.

Job Description

Cleans, treats and plates a variety of components. Inspects work with gauges, scales and visual inspection. Employee prepares, maintains and properly disposes of hazardous solutions according to RCRA guidelines. Makes minor repairs to equipment and performs regular maintenance on plating department baths and waste processing tanks. Monitors and analyzes baths.

Job Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
  • Plates, cleans, and treats components in accordance with verbal or written process instructions and is required to teach the plating process to other employees.
  • Keeps written documentation and records of various operations as required by the supervisor and ISO-9001 guidelines.
  • Assists supervisor in writing of new parts processing instruction.
  • Mixes chemicals and solutions according to written documentation.
  • Operate material and plating analyzing equipment to inspect work by measurement, appearance or gauging.
  • Moves and maintains chemical supplies and hazardous waste in containers of up to 55 gallon sizes.
  • Makes necessary adjustments to equipment to ensure quality products.
  • Writes work orders when plating equipment requires maintenance/repair.
  • Analyzes process solutions, and makes additions as required by chemical analysis.
  • Assist on wastewater treatment monitors and controls.
  • Maintains compliance with company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.
Non-essential Job Functions
  • During idle times, fills in for other departments as needed.
  • Aqueous degreasing operations as required.

Qualification Requirements

Good math skills, ability to understand and implement safe chemical handling. 3-5 years’ experience in plating and cleaning operation. Must have copper, nickel, and silver plating experience. Experience with wastewater treatment systems is very desirable as well as knowing chemical and material processes. Must be safety oriented in this position with previous hazardous waste and chemical training.

Working Environment

Works with hazardous substances (chemical waste, acids, caustics, cyanides and toxic substances). Must wear all required protective clothing, boots and other safety equipment as required. Extended periods of standing. Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. Must be safety oriented in this position with previous Hazardous waste and chemical training. Degreed individual preferred.

Pay Range: $24-29 per hour plus incentive
