Chemical Process Engineer – Plant Optimization

Job summary

OxyChem’s Ingleside Plant in Gregory, Texas seeks a Process Engineer to support safety, efficiency and capital-project execution. You will work with operations and engineering to identify improvements, justify investments and start up upgrades to boost yield and reliability.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering with 2+ years in manufacturing, strong analytical skills, MS Office proficiency, and excellent communication. Some weekend/work shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering with 2+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
• High proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Ability to work weekends/holidays and respond to callouts.
• Physical ability to lift 40 lbs., climb stairs, wear PPE and respond to alarms.
• Good working knowledge of SAP.

Responsibilities

• Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and communities as a priority.
• Identify, evaluate, develop, specify, justify, install and start-up process improvements to increase production capacity and product quality.
• Participate in safety enhancements and environmental safeguard upgrades.
• Provide ongoing engineering assistance to operations including troubleshooting and reporting production status.
• Coordinate between Production, Project Engineering, Maintenance and Corporate Engineering on capital projects.
• Support evaluation/selection and coordination with vendors supplying services and materials.
