Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a Chemical Engineer to support battery recycling operations within the Operations group. The role involves collaborating with operations and maintenance, leading cross-functional projects, and handling testwork from pilot plant design to full-scale implementation.

The candidate should have a strong background in chemical/metallurgical processing, interest in sustainability, and the ability to work in office and production environments, with potential weekend or shift

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline.
  • 3–5 years experience in chemical plant operations and/or design and commissioning.
  • Large scale industrial processing experience.
  • Experience solving difficult chemical and metallurgical process problems.
  • Testwork and pilot plant design and operation experience.
  • Process modelling and equipment sizing linking testwork to implementation.
  • Trade-off studies and financial evaluation.
  • Process plant design and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Work with operations and maintenance to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable processes.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to develop and implement new processes and equipment.
  • Testwork and pilot plant design and operation.
  • Flowsheet conceptualization and development.
  • Flowsheet trade-off evaluations and studies.
  • Process plant design and commissioning and installation support.
  • Commissioning and ramp-up of process plants.
