OxyChem is seeking an experienced Chemical Operator for our Chicago, IL plant. The role emphasizes safety, environmental care, and reliable operation of process equipment.

You will monitor instrumentation, regulate process variables, and coordinate with maintenance to ensure continuous, compliant plant performance. The ideal candidate has a background in a chemical plant or related manufacturing environment, plus strong math, reading, and troubleshooting skills.

Competenze

• Requires high school diploma or GED; process technology degree preferred.
• At least 2 years of relevant chemical plant experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
• Strong math, reading comprehension, and mechanical reasoning; troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and respond to callouts.
• Capable of reading, writing and speaking English; proficient with Microsoft applications.

• Maintain environmental health and safety as a top priority.
• Inspect unit operations and troubleshoot process issues; respond to emergencies.
• Operate field equipment and monitor process parameters (temperature, pressure, concentration, flow).
• Maintain logs of readings, lab results, shift production, and equipment issues.
• Initiate maintenance requests and prepare equipment for maintenance; lockout/tagout as needed.
• Notify supervision and support teams of equipment malfunctions and process problems.
