Your Role at Cabot
Cabot has an exciting opportunity for a Chemical Operator in Carrollton, KY, responsible for operating chemical process systems and related equipment. The role includes inspecting, monitoring, performing minor maintenance, and testing product quality in a laboratory setting.
How You Will Make an Impact
Your primary duty will be to operate the chemical process systems and related equipment. The role requires a safety-minded, self-motivated individual with a positive attitude, energy, effective time management, organization, and record-keeping skills. A successful candidate will:
- Model Cabot’s values of integrity, respect, excellence, and responsibility. Interact professionally with site personnel, visitors, contractors, and all levels of the organization. Follow work instructions, procedures, and policies.
- Monitor and troubleshoot processes to maintain required operating conditions.
- Assist in loading and unloading products and raw materials.
- Maintain and improve knowledge of processes and equipment.
- Perform general, predictive, and preventive maintenance. Use computerized systems to document work and monitor equipment condition.
- Conduct quality control testing using Cabot’s methods and SPC techniques.
- Work safely and participate in safety, health, and environmental programs. Attend meetings and complete safety training. Keep work areas safe and clean.
- Support the implementation of Responsible Care and ISO Management Systems.
- Complete reports, records, and measurements, including incident reporting, production records, and lab results.
- Work rotating 12-hour shifts, including overtime and responding to call-outs. Shift pattern alternates bi-weekly between days and nights.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring to Cabot
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certificate in Chemical Process Technology is preferred. An associate degree or military experience, including ETA school, is a plus.
- At least 3 years of chemical manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently, with strong communication skills. Dependability and a positive safety record are essential.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, chemical processes, troubleshooting, and process improvements. Ability to interpret complex instructions.
- Mechanical aptitude, familiarity with hand tools, laboratory practices, and procedures.
- Calmness and effectiveness in critical situations. Experience with incident reporting and investigation.
- Time management, organization, record-keeping, and basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to operate material handling equipment safely.
- Flexibility for changing assignments and work schedules, including off-shift hours.
- Physical ability to climb stairs/ladders, stand or sit for long periods, work outdoors, at heights, and lift up to 50 lbs.
