InChem is located in Rock Hill SC which is approximately 25 miles south of Charlotte NC and approximately 70 miles north of Columbia SC. Its historic downtown consist of twelve contiguous buildings built as early as 1840 offering dining and retail options. The city is also home to three colleges, including Winthrop University , a public liberal arts university founded in 1886 which enrolls nearly 6,000 students annually.

CHEMICAL OPERATOR OPPORTUNITY :

We ’ re looking for full-time entry-level CHEMICAL OPERATORS. The CHEMICAL OPERATOR is responsible for operating chemical plant machines and entire chemical processes. Monitors instruments, adjust valves and gauges, and interprets chemical reactions.

Some of the daily duties include:

  • Operate a variety of process equipment, including reaction systems, distillation systems, filters, extractors, reactors, pumps, and centrifuges in compliance with prescribed operating procedures.
  • Load and unload raw materials, intermediates, and finished products into and out of process equipment.
  • Set up and adjust indicating and controlling devices.
  • Monitor and record reactions, noting changes in chemical and physical properties and compositional changes of substances.
  • Adjust valves and controls to maintain system at specified temperature, pressure, and vacuum levels.
  • Maintain log of gauge readings, shift production, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot process and/or equipment problems.

The CHEMICAL OPERATOR may be exposed to loud noises, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals (including high and low pH), flammable materials, high, precarious places and moving mechanical parts. The chemical operator also may be exposed to extreme temperatures within the working environment, including outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid conditions.

The CHEMICAL OPERATOR must understand the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and understand that certain procedures will require the use of enhanced personal protective equipment such as a fit tested, full-face respirator.

The CHEMICAL OPERATOR must navigate stairs and/or ladders and must lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and lift and/or move greater than 55 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

The CHEMICAL OPERATOR is required to have a high school diploma or GED and have one year of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent.

The CHEMICAL OPERATOR standardshifts for Distillation are:

1st shift Mon. to Fri. 645am to 3pm

2nd shift Mon. to Fri. 245pm to 11pm

3rd shift Mon. to Fri. 1045pm to 7am

Depending on distillation production needs the shifts at times may be changed to:

Shift A - Monday to Thursday 7am to 7pm

Shift B - Monday to Thursday 7pm to 7am
