Job Summary

Associates engaged in mixing or polymerization operations who perform the following essential job functions. A Chemical Operator I is an entry level position typically defined as having been in the Chemical Operations department for less than 2 years and having been trained in less than 2 manufacturing areas within the department.

Essential Functions
  • Follow all safety regulations including grounding, bonding, nitrogen inerting, PPE, and exhaust vents.
  • Wear appropriate clothing such as ESD shoes, long pants, and long sleeves.
  • Perform production tasks including setting up, adjusting, operating equipment, and inspecting/testing products.
  • Add ingredients with specific measurements and techniques as per procedures and batch records.
  • Visual inspection of all materials used and produced.
  • Operate support equipment like mixers, balances, pumps, mills, granulators, timers, and controllers.
  • Accurately perform work assignments, computer transactions, and calculations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment following departmental 6S standards and report unsafe practices.
  • Achieve quality and throughput goals.
  • Work according to SPARs, WI's, and instructions; seek assistance for issues beyond procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors; assist others and relay shift information.
  • Complete documentation neatly and accurately.
  • Participate in training and problem-solving initiatives.
  • Contribute to development of new products, processes, and equipment.
  • Follow waste handling procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; prior production experience preferred.
  • Adhere to guiding principles, policies, quality systems, ISO, OSHA.
  • Use procedures and skills requiring significant training.
  • Work involves moderate risks; use PPE as needed.
  • Physical activity includes standing, bending, lifting (50-100 lbs with assist), and dexterity.
