What you´ll do
- The technician at this level will be able to provide leadership and direction to crew members to optimize results and improve skill levels; plan for and allocate resources including downtime, EOs, sludge deterrence or removal, changes in production plan or shut downs, coordinate production inventory for shipments and internal usage.
- Must know and demonstrate proper operation of Sulfonation.
- Technician IV, LL performs hourly inspections of the Sulfonation plant and record data retrieved from the control monitors.
- Based upon lab analytical results, the operators will make necessary changes to the process or to storage tanks to maintain acceptable quality in the finished product. They should also be proficient in working with personal computers and statistical process control.
- Must be able to prepare for and lead tie-in meetings with the previous shift and management personnel prior to the start of each shift for review of results in all functional areas, including staffing discussions to ensure operator role coverage to minimize operating disruptions, costs, delegate resources to problems and prioritize maintenance projects to improve department key measures.
- Must be able to provide direction, coach and train other Technician IV, LL in new processes, standards, operating instructions, and cause and effect learnings.
- Must frequently communicate with all crewmembers, to ensure that tasks are properly assigned and allocate resources to effectively run the daily operations (i.e., lunch breaks, callouts, shift changes, etc.) and anticipate production, schedule, customer and raw material needs, plan and execute solutions to upcoming issues.
- Must learn and understand the reliability measures and be able to utilize the downtime system for troubleshooting and maintenance planning and execution.
- Must learn and understand yield trends and implement yield improvements.
- Must learn and understand the relationship among accuracy in production reporting, yields, cost and competitive performance.
- The technician must frequently communicate with other crew members on shift including Stationary Engineers/Mechanics, Electricians, Lab Technicians, Technician IV, LL, Technician III, and internal and external customers and Team Managers to optimize production results and problem solve to ensure positive customer service results.
- Must have good planning and organizational skills. Technician IV, LL will actively participate in related activities.

- Must achieve acceptable scores on Validated Assessments Tests.
- Scores will be valid for a one-year period from the date of testing.
- Selected candidates will be given an overview of the job and a tour of the operation.
- Sample test questions will be made available at this time.
- Assessment will take place in the Sulfonation Control Room.
- Interested candidates will be required to take the assessment in two two-hour sessions, scheduled based on the number of applicants.
- Selected candidates will be required to complete an interview as part of the selection process.
- The first candidate that meets the minimum requirements based on assessment and interview results will be selected.
- These sessions will be on the employees’ own time and scheduled accordingly.
- Forklift driving certification required (training provided).
- Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervision.
- Must be able to wear a respirator and other PPE as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must pass a pulmonary function test.
- Must be able to grasp and carry 50 lbs. a distance of 25 ft.
- Must be able to climb ladder to a height of 20 ft. and stand on platform.
- Must have adequate eyesight to monitor control terminals.
- Must have adequate hearing to respond to various alarms.
- Must be able to perform duties inside confined spaces, such as tanks or process vessels, for 15 min. duration.
- Must be able to climb stairs and work off outdoor platforms 35 feet high.
The salary for this role is $33.95-$38.84. This range is used in good faith for setting wages but may vary or be modified in the future.
