Job summary

Koppers Inc. in Rock Hill, SC seeks a Chemical Operator to uphold safety, support plant production, and maintain regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
  • Reliable transportation for attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety, plant production, operating efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Follow safety rules and encourage others to follow them.
  • Operate pumps, pipes, valves and HMIs to prepare and charge materials.
  • Operate a forklift to load/unload trailers and transport materials.
  • Perform basic lab testing.
  • Count and report inventory daily; assist monthly counts.
  • Follow lock out tag out (LOTO) procedures for maintenance.
  • Maintain clean, organized and safe work area.
  • Maintain batch sheets, lab data entries and shift turnover documents.
  • Recommend methods to improve production and equipment.
  • Assist others in troubleshooting problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities
  • The Chemical Operator is responsible for maintaining safety, plant production, operating efficiency and regulatory compliance
  • Follows and encourages others to follow all organizational safety rules and practices.
  • Fosters & maintains a positive work environment.
  • Performs basic tasks interacting with pumps, pipes, valves, and HMIs to prepare and charge material into the manufacturing batch process.
  • Operates a forklift to load/unload trailers and transport materials.
  • Performs basic lab testing.
  • Counts and report inventory daily and assist monthly inventory counts.
  • Folows and perform lock out tag out (LOTO) for maintenance work on equipment.
  • Maintain work area in a clean, organized, and safe environment.
  • Maintain accurate records including batch sheets, lab data entries, and shift turnover documents.
  • Recommends methods to improve production methods and equipment.
  • Assists others in troubleshooting problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Candidate Qualifications/ Requirements
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
