Job summary

Air Liquide is hiring a Chemical Operator in Newport, DE to operate chemical process equipment, follow ISO 9001/AS9100 procedures, and perform batch manufacturing. The role requires C1D1/C1D2 experience, the ability to work in hazardous environments, and strong adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities include monitoring process variables, sampling for QC, performing preventive maintenance, and shifting on a 12‑hour Dupont schedule with day-night rotations.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Industrial Manufacturing experience.
  • Proven experience with C1D1 and C1D2 Explosion Proof environments, particularly within hazardous material handling and solvent extraction.
  • Good written skills, proficient computer skills, and ability to work with MS Office tools are required.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
  • Continuous standing in one location for long periods (2-3 hours before break).
  • Flexibility to work in shifts and handle occasional overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate automatic and manual chemical process equipment of varying complexity in accordance with operating procedures, including programmable logic control devices.
  • Follow specifications, job orders, work instructions, recipes and procedures to produce specific products according to our ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality system.
  • Perform complex liquid / chemical batch manufacturing, maintaining familiarity with various production machines.
  • Ability to work in C1D1 and C1D2 Explosion Proof environments, particularly within hazardous material handling and solvent extraction.
  • Monitor and control process variables, such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates.
  • Route product samples for quality control inspection according to procedure.
  • Complete preventive maintenance on a regular, timely basis; troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with experts as needed.
  • Comply with safety and environmental standards and maintain a clean, organized work area, including waste disposal and safety program participation.
  • This position is shift work on a 12 hour Dupont Schedule, day-night rotation.

  • Operate automatic and manual chemical process equipment of varying complexity in accordance w/ operating procedures, including programmable, logic control devices

  • Complete preventive maintenance on a regular, timely basis. Handle first-line troubleshooting such as equipment malfunctions, computer program issues, setting adjustments; involving appropriate other experts as needed.
  • Comply with the Company’s safety and environmental standards:
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area
    • Assure proper disposal of waste materials
    • Contribute actively to safety improvement programs
    • Comply with all Company policies including safety, operating procedures, quality, attendance and proper on the job conduct
  • This position is shift work on a 12 hour Dupont Schedule, day-night rotation
