Job summary

Astrix Inc. is seeking a Production Operator to join its cosmetic and botanical extract production team in a food/flavor manufacturing environment.

The role will operate equipment, perform small-batch blending, package finished products, and maintain a safe, clean work area in a dedicated production zone. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, manufacturing experience, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate machinery, equipment, and production processes according to established procedures and instructions.
  • Perform small-batch blending and processing of cosmetic and botanical extract products.
  • Work with various raw materials, including fruits, vegetables, herbs, oils, glycerin, and other ingredients.
  • Monitor production processes and equipment to ensure products meet quality and safety standards.
  • Follow written procedures and accurately document production information, process conditions, and other data.
  • Package finished products into appropriate containers, including jugs and totes.
  • Use a forklift to move materials and finished products throughout the production area.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production area.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory procedures.

Pay: $22/hour
Type: 6-month contract-to-hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Start Date: ASAP
Interview: One onsite interview, approximately 30 minutes, including a plant tour

The Role

We are seeking a Production Operator to join a growing production team within the cosmetic and botanical extracts side of a food/flavor manufacturing environment. This position will work within a dedicated production area and be responsible for operating equipment, completing small-batch production processes, packaging finished products, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

The team produces a variety of cosmetic and botanical extracts by processing fruits, vegetables, and herbs and blending them with ingredients such as oils and glycerin. Production is steady, with approximately 7–8 batches completed per day, ranging from small 8-pound batches up to larger 1,600-pound batches using jugs and totes.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is self-motivated, self-directed, and comfortable working independently while following established procedures and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate machinery, equipment, and production processes according to established procedures and instructions.
  • Perform small-batch blending and processing of cosmetic and botanical extract products.
  • Work with various raw materials, including fruits, vegetables, herbs, oils, glycerin, and other ingredients.
  • Monitor production processes and equipment to ensure products are produced according to established quality and safety standards.
  • Follow written procedures and accurately document production information, process conditions, and other required data.
  • Measure and handle materials accurately according to batch requirements.
  • Operate and monitor production and packaging equipment.
  • Package finished products into appropriate containers, including jugs and totes.
  • Use a forklift to move materials and finished products throughout the production area.
  • Inspect equipment for potential issues, leaks, wear, or other conditions requiring attention.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production area.
  • Follow all applicable safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory procedures.
  • Work effectively with other production team members, leads, and supervisors.
  • Complete required training and follow all established operating procedures.
  • Communicate production or equipment concerns to the appropriate lead or supervisor.
  • Perform other production-related duties as needed.
The Ideal Candidate
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred.
  • Experience with batching, blending, or chemical processing is highly desirable.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, paints/coatings, personal care, cosmetics, or other industrial blending environments is a strong plus.
  • Forklift experience is preferred/required based on the position's responsibilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow written procedures.
  • Solid basic math and computer skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and stay productive with limited supervision.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with a strong work ethic.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Ability to safely lift and move materials as required.
