We are looking for a Chemical Operator to support our Specialty Chemical Operations in Rochester, NY.

As a Chemical Operator, you will manage and maintain the flow of various chemicals through processing equipment to maximize output and quality while minimizing waste.

You will operate and control complex process equipment, including ABB distributed control systems, distillation columns, extractors, steamers, cooling towers, decanters, tanks, pumps, lab equipment, transfer stations, emissions reduction systems, and pipelines. These high-volume systems require a high level of operator interface and process understanding. The processes run 24/7, with safety, environmental hazards, and potential solvent exposure being critical considerations.

Specialized Skills and Job Expectations:

  • Complete training focused on HSE, equipment functions, operating procedures, and techniques.
  • Strict adherence to safety and operational procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with computers and databases.
  • Basic math skills, including calculations and percentages.
  • Maintain a clean work environment, follow 5S practices, and operate safely.
  • Willingness to work overtime or flexible schedules for shutdowns and business needs.
  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills, knowing when to seek help.
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions, including working on platforms and high levels.
  • Self-motivated with good prioritization and multitasking abilities.
  • Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
