Job summary

BWXT NOGJ in Jonesborough, Tennessee, seeks a Chemical Laboratory Technician to perform inorganic analytical testing in the Chemical Laboratory and QA departments. The role may require 2nd or 3rd shift and occasional weekend work, with supervision provided by the QA Manager.

Responsibilities include preparing samples, operating ICP-OES/MS, XRF, and titration instruments, training new staff, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associate’s Degree or six years QA experience including two years in QA.
• Shift flexibility to 2nd or 3rd shift; weekend work as needed.
• Experience in a quality control analytical laboratory preferred (inorganic).
• Experience operating analytical instruments such as ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRF, Pycnometers, Surface Area Analyzers, automated titration units and IC units.
• Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel; strong attention to detail and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Perform inorganic analytical determinations in the Chemistry Laboratory.
• Follow instructions to meet precision and accuracy requirements.
• Prepare samples by weighing, dissolving, diluting and furnace treating.
• Operate ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRF and related instruments.
• Train new lab personnel in analytical determinations.
• Document results with daily data collection and reporting.
