Job summary

Daubert Chemical Company is seeking a skilled Formulator to join our family-owned plant in Illinois. You will mix and blend product batches, track schedules, and document batch information for QA. Safety, accuracy, and teamwork are essential as you prepare products for shipping.

We value dependable, detail-oriented professionals with experience in chemical manufacturing and the ability to operate equipment like valves, pumps and PLCs. Overtime may occur and training is provided.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of chemical manufacturing experience in a batch environment with chemical reactions.
  • Strong reading, writing and speaking English; team player and able to follow directions.
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude with valves, pumps, flow meters, condensers, sensors, PLCs, filters, etc.
  • Good problem-solving ability; efficient time use during shifts.
  • Able to perform accurate math calculations.
  • Able to be trained and safely operate a forklift.
  • Punctuality and excellent attendance are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate standard or custom products according to batch sheets.
  • Track production schedule and set up, weigh, measure, and mix raw materials.
  • Record required information on batch sheets and submit samples to QA.
  • Prepare finished product for container and labeling for shipping.
  • Clean, secure and maintain equipment and work areas per 5S and SOPs.
  • Follow PPE and safety rules; respirator may be required for certain batches.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and adjust as needed.

  • Starting hourly range of $23.00-$24.00, depending on experience, plus overtime

We are open Monday-Friday with overtime available. Some overtime is mandatory, and work hours adjusted for necessary business reasons, e.g. training, order demand.
  • 1st Shift: 5:00am - 1:30pm

The Formulator works with chemical processing equipment to formulate standard or custom products according to product specifications. Every day the Formulator will track the production schedule, follow batch sheet instructions to accurately and efficiently set up, weigh, measure, and mix raw materials in proper sequence. Next the Formulator will add ingredients either manually or with pumps and meters, accurately record the required information on the batch sheet, and submit samples to QA. Finally, the Formulator will prepare approved finished product for the container and label it for shipping. Overall, the Formulator must be adept in learning and safely executing formulating procedures for the Production Department.

Additional Job Duties
  • Performs activities to safely clean, secure and maintain equipment and work areas as required. Participate in housekeeping (e.g. sweep, mop, dust, put items away in proper areas) in the facility according to 5S
  • Follows, without exception, all work instructions, SOP's, and safety rules, including use of all proper PPE and other safety equipment. Use of a respirator is required for certain batches.
  • Troubleshoots problems with equipment, respond to system notifications and make required adjustments as needed.
Experience & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum 3 years of chemical manufacturing experience in a batch environment with chemical reactions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to read, write and speak English. Works well within a team and able to follow specific directions
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude; manufacturing experience with valves, pumps, flow meters, condensers, sensors, PLC's, filters, etc.
  • Good problem-solving ability; makes efficient use of time within shift directives.
  • Be able to demonstrate accurate math calculations.
  • Ability to be trained and safely operate a forklift.

Passing a respirator fitting and pulmonary fit test is required.
