Safety-Kleen Systems, a Clean Harbors company, in East Chicago, IN seeks a Chemical Engineering Intern to support plant operations, mechanical integrity, and small capital projects. In-person internship with start dates May 17 or May 24, 2027, through August.

You will gain hands-on experience, work with engineers, and contribute to safety, design, and project execution. Ideal for a junior/senior pursuing a Chemical Engineering degree, with coursework in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and process

Qualifications

• Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior in a Chemical Engineering bachelor's program.
• Coursework in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, process design, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with chemical process flow diagrams and process simulation software preferred.
• Experience with CAD type software required.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word).

Responsabilités

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority through safe work practices.
• Coordinate with operations to update CAD drawings and P&IDs for Mechanical Integrity.
• Provide technical services for development of process instructions.
• Collaborate with internal groups to implement best practices.
• Design or redesign piping and develop associated technical documents.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within established processes.
• Attend daily and monthly program meetings.
• Work with engineers on facility projects.
