Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Chemical Engineering Intern in Boulder, CO for a 10-12 week summer internship. You will assist with engineering analysis, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and field documentation while collaborating with engineers, architects, and project managers on industrial life sciences and pharmaceutical support projects.

Responsibilities include design tasks, calculations, cost estimates, client communications, and documenting project progress.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent required
• AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D experience a plus
• Prior internship experience in the engineering consulting or chemical process industry preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with discipline system design according to code and IMEG standards.
• Research commercially available equipment.
• Support client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation.
• Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's).
• Assist in developing equipment and instrument specifications.
• Perform field work to document existing conditions and current installations.
• Perform and document technical calculations associated with design tasks.
• Support cost estimate development, including quote solicitation from vendors.
• Assist in process controls design, engineering calculations, and bid package documentation.
• Review project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to final check and assist with addendum information.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions meeting project goals

What You’ll Bring

Required Education

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent required

Required Skills/Abilities

• Strong interest in design consulting
• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM
• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

• Prior internship experience in the engineering consulting or chemical process industry preferred
• AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D experience a plus

State of Colorado Salary Range: $22.00/hr-$24.00/hr

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
