Job Overview

The Y-12 National Security Complex is seeking a Chemical Engineer to support lithium processing operations. This role involves developing detailed design packages, providing technical support during procurement and field activities, troubleshooting, and performing assessments of plant systems. The engineer will prepare conceptual and detailed engineering deliverables, including cost estimates, design criteria, calculations, and specifications. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and field support are essential components of this role.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop detailed design packages and provide technical support during procurement and field activities.
  2. Perform walkdowns and generate design documents for existing plant facilities.
  3. Participate in process design, including flowsheet development, calculations, safety evaluations, and equipment sizing.
  4. Support safety documentation, cost estimation, procurement, and testing activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
  • DOE O 426.2A compliance, including nuclear experience, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of technical standards, leadership, and teamwork skills.
