Job description

We are seeking a Chemical Engineer to support the design, development, procurement, installation, and testing of chemical and mechanical process systems within a specialized engineering and manufacturing environment. This individual will work closely with engineering teams, equipment vendors, and procurement to ensure systems are designed for safe, efficient, and reliable operation.

The role will involve reviewing technical designs, developing equipment specifications and test plans, participating in factory and site acceptance testing, and verifying equipment installation and operability. The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background, sound technical judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects while adapting to evolving priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Design & Documentation: Prepare and review design packages, technical specifications, drawings, calculations, reports, and test plans for chemical and mechanical process systems.
  • Process Systems: Support engineering activities involving piping, valves, tanks, fluid flow, heat transfer, air handling, confinement boundaries, chemical separations, and specialized containment systems.
  • Equipment Procurement: Collaborate with procurement teams to identify, evaluate, and purchase equipment required for engineering projects.
  • Vendor Coordination: Work with equipment vendors to finalize system designs, support fabrication, coordinate equipment delivery, and ensure projects meet established schedules and budgets.
  • Testing & Validation: Develop and review equipment test plans, participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and evaluate test results and technical documentation.
  • Installation & Commissioning Support: Conduct field walkdowns of installed equipment to verify installation, assess operability, and identify potential design or implementation issues.
  • Technical Reviews: Perform acceptance reviews of vendor-provided calculations, reports, and design documentation to ensure technical requirements are met.
  • Project Coordination: Manage multiple engineering activities simultaneously, make informed design decisions, and consider technical risks, safety, cost, and schedule throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of engineering experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities in a changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience contributing to engineering design decisions while evaluating technical risks.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external vendors to develop and implement new systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and solve complex engineering challenges.
