Job summary

Brainerd Chemical Company is seeking a Chemical DOT Driver to transport chemical products regionally and handle overnight routes. The role combines highway runs with local deliveries and occasional warehouse work when not on overnight trips.

Responsibilities include safe driving, load securement, log maintenance, and payment collection. Must have CDL A with Hazmat/Tanker endorsements, 2+ years experience, and be fully safety-conscious.

Qualifications

• Requires Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
• Minimum 2 years of verifiable experience operating a commercial vehicle.
• Must be at least 18 years old with a HS diploma or GED.
• Hazardous materials transport experience is highly preferred.
• Experience in a chemical plant, refinery, or industrial setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive truck to destination and return as per schedule.
• Prepare receipts for loads and collect payment for goods and charges.
• Maintain truck logs and vehicle inspections per state and federal regulations.
• Maintain radio/phone contact with supervisor for delivery instructions.
• Load and unload truck; inspect tires, lights, brakes, oil, and water.
• Ensure load securement; perform 1–4 overnight runs weekly as needed.
• Typically operate mostly dedicated tractors unless otherwise required.

Description

The Chemical DOT Driver’s primary responsibility is to transport chemical products and goods to and from our location to specified locations. This position will be a combination of route driving as well as service our overnight deliveries in this regional area using a sleeper cab, day cab or city box truck. Dry vans and bulk tanker deliveries are used. When there are no overnight trips on the schedule, this position will either perform local deliveries or work in the warehouse. Qualified candidates must be capable and willing to perform an average of one to four overnight routes per week, as dictated by business needs

Responsibilities:

• Drives truck to destination.
• Prepares receipts for load picked up.
• Collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
• Maintains truck log and vehicle inspection report, according to state and federal regulations.
• Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
• Loads and unloads truck.
• Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
• Responsible for load and unload securement
• Driver may be asked to perform one to four overnight runs per week as business needs dictate.
• Mostly dedicated tractors unless there are unusual circumstances.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age; Must possess HS Diploma or GED; Chemical industry training highly preferred.
• Must have at least 2 years of verifiable experience operating a commercial vehicle; prefer 3 or more years experience.
• Experience transporting hazardous materials highly preferred;
• Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and good driving record required;
• Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing plant, refinery or an industrial environment is highly preferred.
• Must be highly safety conscientious, awareness, strong attention to detail, including the ability to react quickly.
• Must be willing and able to work outside, year-round under various weather conditions.
• Must be capable of climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, working in a confined space and from elevated platforms, and able to wear appropriate protective equipment.
• Must have NC “X” Endorsement / Tanker and Hazmat Endorsement
