Base pay range

$85,000.00/yr - $110,000.00/yr

Buyer (Chemical and Packaging)

  • Procurement:

Sourcing and purchasing commodity and specialty chemicals (bulk, totes, dry, powders, liquids), raw materials, and process aides.

Sourcing and purchasing packaging materials (bags, super sacks, drums, totes, pallets, etc)

  • Supplier Management:

Building and maintaining relationships with vendors, evaluating their performance, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and improved quality.

  • Order Management:

Creating purchase orders, negotiating pricing and delivery terms, expediting orders, and ensuring timely delivery.

  • Cost Analysis:

Analyzing raw material costs, collaborate with commercial team to manage price risk

Identifying cost-saving opportunities and participating in cost reduction projects.

  • Documentation:

Maintaining accurate records of purchase orders, vendor data, pricing, lead times, and regulatory documents.

  • Customer Service:

Collaborating with internal departments (e.g., Planning, Customer Service, Business) to address material delays or disruptions and pricing changes.

  • Regulatory Compliance:

Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and obtaining necessary regulatory documents.

  • Performance Tracking:

Tracking vendor performance metrics and proactively addressing any issues.

  • Market Research:

Staying informed about market trends, new suppliers, and alternative materials.

Identifying quality standards and ensuring that all products meet those standards.

  • Negotiation:

Negotiating contracts and pricing with suppliers to secure favorable terms.

  • Communication:

Effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and internal departments.

  • Problem Solving:

Identifying and resolving issues related to procurement, inventory, or supplier performance.

  • Data Management:

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date information in the company's purchasing system.

  • ERP System Experience: SAP experience desired

Education

  • Bachelor's degree: Business, Chemistry, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • Relevant Experience: Experience in manufacturing, process manufacturing, inventory control, or production environments is highly desirable.

Skills

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills to monitor markets and develop correlations to manage buy decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to develop relationships/partnerships with key suppliers.
    • Develop and maintain dashboard of market trends, key drivers, and expectations in regular updates to stakeholders
  • Organizational Skills : Strong organizational skills are needed to manage inventory and procurement processes.
  • Negotiation Skills : Negotiation skills are crucial for securing favorable deals with suppliers.
  • Detail-Oriented : A keen eye for detail is important for ensuring accuracy in purchasing.
  • Customer Service Skills : Knowledge of customer needs and meeting quality standards is also important.
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is often required.
