Job description

The Chem Lab Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Chemistry Lab, supervising staff, ensuring quality performance, and promoting a high standard of patient care and service. This role provides leadership through coaching, mentoring, and performance management while ensuring departmental goals, regulatory compliance, and safety standards are met. The supervisor plays a key role in delivering accurate, timely lab results and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation range begins at $36.28per hour.

  • Compensation is commensurate upon education & experience – range is $29.00per hour or more. Benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment from the new hire orientation date. This position is a non-exempt position with shift differential.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and support lab personnel to ensure efficiency and compliance with procedures and safety protocols.

Monitor daily operations, test accuracy, equipment function, and regulatory adherence.

Mentor staff and provide performance evaluations, coaching, and development opportunities.

Ensure department achieves its operational goals and maintains timely, high-quality testing.

Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to resolve concerns and support patient care.

Manage supply inventory and coordinate maintenance of lab instruments.

Position Requirements

Medical Technologist Certification or equivalent.

Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.

Experience

Five (5) years of clinical lab experience required.

One (1) year in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.

Required Registration/License/Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required at time of hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

Working knowledge of lab information systems and acute care operations.

In-depth understanding of laboratory testing practices, regulatory standards, and clinical workflows.

Ability to manage personnel, maintain productivity, and uphold safety standards.

  • Lifts, positions, pushes, pulls, and/or transfers up to and greater than 50 pounds
