Job Summary

Summary: As a Sous Chef I, you will assist in the overall success of the food program and oversee culinary functions. Your responsibilities include planning, ordering, inventory, and food preparation, ensuring adherence to client culture, health regulations, and our standards for food quality, freshness, and presentation. You will also motivate, train, develop, and direct back-of-house associates to meet operational objectives and satisfy customers, clients, and management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in coordinating and preparing various food items.
  2. Help plan and create menus.
  3. Implement new culinary programs with marketing and culinary teams.
  4. Manage cost controls and expenditures.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • 5 years of related culinary experience, including 1 year in management.
  • Experience across restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, healthcare, or related food services.
  • Knowledge of food industry trends, focusing on quality, sanitation, safety, food costs, and presentation.
  • Ability to set up and distribute production sheets.
  • Leadership, training, management, and coaching skills.
  • ServSafe or Department of Health Certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
