Salary: $60,000-$75,000/yearly

FISD is committed to providing exceptional food service in educational environments. We seek a growth-minded Chef Manager for St. Stephen’s Episcopal Day School in Miami, FL, serving students from pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. The role involves overseeing culinary and food service operations, ensuring high-quality, sustainable, and efficient meals, including catering for occasional weekend events.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage all culinary operations for the school’s lunch program, including menu development, preparation, and service, Monday through Friday.
  2. Oversee catering for special school events, including occasional weekend events (once or twice a month).
  3. Handle inventory management, ordering, and receiving food and supplies.
  4. Ensure quality, presentation, and nutritional value of all meals.
  5. Control food costs and meet budget goals, including P&L accountability.
  6. Source local ingredients and implement eco-friendly practices to foster sustainability.
  7. Manage food service staff, ensuring proper training in food prep, sanitation, and safety.
  8. Maintain compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP.
  9. Execute catering events to high standards of quality and presentation.
  10. Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least three years of culinary management experience in food service, education, or related fields.
  • Flexibility for catering events on weekends.
  • Spanish-speaking ability is required.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, cost management, and P&L.
  • Experience with high-end catering preferred.
  • Knowledge of food trends, safety, sanitation, and presentation.
  • Experience with large-scale catering and exposition cooking.
  • HACCP knowledge and ServSafe certification desirable.
