Metropolitan Culinary Arts Institute (MCAI) is hiring a full-time chef instructor to teach professional culinary skills in person, mostly evenings and Saturdays, up to 40 hours per week. The educator will follow MCAI's curriculum, bring real-world expertise, and engage students in a dynamic learning environment.

Responsibilities include delivering education, assessing students, tracking progress, and ensuring safety and sanitation in the teaching kitchen.

Qualifications

  • Must have ServSafe Manager's License or be willing to take the exam.
  • Professional culinary degree and/or extensive culinary experience.
  • Previous teaching or training in a professional setting is desirable.
  • Knowledge of culinary industry trends.
  • Availability for varied schedules, including day and evening classes.

  • Teach, assess and grade students in foundational cooking techniques, advanced culinary methods, and kitchen management.
  • Maintain a structured and disciplined classroom environment conducive to serious culinary training.

  • Collaborate with the administration to ensure all lessons and assessments align with MCAI standards and accreditation requirements.

Position Available: Full-time Chef Instructor/Culinary Educator

Metropolitan Culinary Arts Institute (MCAI)

Mostly Evenings & Saturday - 40 hours maximum per week.

We are seeking a full-time chef instructor to join our team at MCAI, a private, post-secondary culinary arts school. The ideal candidate has extensive experience as a chef - they must be passionate about teaching professional culinary skills that follows our specific program. All classes are conducted in person.

MCAI is ACF-APPROVED and program accredited by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV). MCAI is ACF-APPROVED. MCAI also accepts the GI Bill.

We are seeking dedicated professionals who are punctual, respectful to customers, students, and staff, and committed to upholding the high standards set by SCHEV.

The Culinary Educator/Chef Instructor will follow textbooks and an approved curriculum, while bringing their expertise, personal experience, and an engaging presence to the classroom to create a dynamic learning environment.
