Job summary

Kings College Taunton relies on Sodexo to provide high-quality catering for a busy school community. We are seeking a Chef de Partie to join a 12-person team delivering approximately 1,000 meals per day on a two-team split.

You will prepare and cook a variety of dishes in a fast-paced kitchen, maintain high standards of hygiene, and support the Head Chef during peak service times. DBS check will be completed for this role.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role essential; school or contract catering experience advantageous.
• Enhanced DBS check will be completed for this role.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality dishes, ensuring every meal is delivered to an excellent standard and served at the correct temperature.
• Support the Head Chef and wider team with daily food preparation, maintaining smooth service during busy, high-volume periods.
• Receive and check deliveries, store ingredients correctly, and follow stock rotation procedures (including FIFO) to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
• Maintain exceptional hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards in line with company policies and legal requirements.
• Work collaboratively with your team to create a positive, supportive kitchen environment for both colleagues and the school community.
• Assist with school events and functions, which may occasionally fall outside normal working hours.
• Provide a friendly, professional service to students, staff, and visitors.
• Follow portion control guidelines and support sustainable, cost-effective catering practices.
• Contribute ideas for menu improvements and service enhancements.
