Job summary

WesleyLife’s Hearthstone in Pella, IA is seeking an Assistant Culinary Director to lead kitchen and dining services. You will oversee kitchen operations, tray service, and dining room activities, while supporting catering prep, service, and staff supervision.

Open shifts, full-time hours, and opportunities for resident feedback on menus are part of this role. WesleyLife emphasizes health, well-being, and a team-driven environment with strong benefits. Previous culinary leadership is preferred.

• 2 years culinary experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct the overall operation of the kitchen, tray service and dining room areas.
• Assist with prep, serve, clean for catering events.
• Inspect and monitor food for visual appearance, quality, proper temperature, portion size, and dietary needs.
• Under the supervision of the Food & Beverage Director, assist with the interview process.
• Payroll.
• Train and monitor performance of dining service team.
• Seek resident involvement for menu planning and service feedback.
• Responsible for the stocking and organization of food and supply storage areas. Maintain accurate inventory records and complete physical inventory as directed.

A day in the life of an Assistant Culiary Directorat Hearthstone:

• Direct the overall operation of the kitchen, tray service and dining room areas.
• Assist with prep, serve, clean for catering events.
• Inspect and monitor food for visual appearance, quality, proper temperature, portion size, and dietary needs.
• Under the supervision of the Food & Beverage Director, assist with the interview process
• Payroll
• Train and monitor performance of dining service team
• Seek resident involvement for menu planning and service feedback
• Responsible for the stocking and organization of food and supply storage areas. Maintain accurate inventory records and complete physical inventory as directed
• Perform duties of absent team members when necessary to ensure smooth running operations
