Job summary

Spherion VT is recruiting for a Floor Operator (Cheese Line Operator) to join our production team responsible for packaging cheese into large formats. Under the Production Supervisor, you’ll help ensure quality, safety, and efficiency.

The role involves operating cheese packaging equipment, performing inspections, maintaining records, and following GMP/SQF standards. Training is available for the right candidate, with a steady 12:00 PM–8:00 PM schedule.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years experience in manufacturing preferred.
• Ability to follow SOPs and GMP/SQF requirements.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holiday rotations.

Responsibilities

• Operates cheese packaging equipment (cheese towers, collators, vacuum chambers) to package cheese.
• Performs visual inspections and ensures metal detection standards are met.
• Maintains PPE use and follows SOPs for production and sanitation tasks.
• Keeps accurate production records and reviews daily schedules for correct product coding.
• Follows GMP/SQF requirements and reports food safety issues.

Job Overview

Spherion VT is recruiting for a Floor Operator (Cheese Line Operator), who will have the opportunity to be a key member of a production team responsible for packaging cheese into large formats, ranging from 40lb boxes to 680lb blocks. Working under the Production Supervisor, this role ensures all products meet or exceed company and customer quality specifications while maintaining a high standard of safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Operates specialized equipment (cheese towers, collators, vacuum chambers, etc.) to package cheese while maintaining the expected product flow and rate.
• Conducts visual inspections and ensures metal detection standards are met to keep products free from foreign objects and within quality specifications.
• Adheres to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and follows standard operating procedures (SOPs) for both production and sanitation tasks.
• Maintains accurate production records, including charts, sanitation logs, and weight tags, and reviews daily schedules for correct product coding.
• Performs all tasks according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SQF requirements, reporting any food safety issues immediately.

Working hours: 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Skills:

• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, though the company is willing to train the right candidate.
• Ability to apply common sense to set up equipment, adjust settings, and perform basic mechanical assessments.
• Must have a flexible schedule with the willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holiday rotations as required.
• Strong interpersonal skills to thrive in a team environment and the ability to manage detail-oriented tasks with minimal supervision.

• Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs and pushing/pulling 680 lb blocks on roller rails for up to 8 hours.
