Job summary

Rockford Park District is seeking a Program Assistant for Cheer and Dance to teach 5–11 year olds sideline cheers, choreograph routines, and promote a safe, fun environment at Youth Sports events.

You will communicate with parents and participants, maintain attendance records, and assist with setup and teardown while clocking in through the HRIS system. Position is seasonal and location varies across facilities.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Good organizational and leadership skills for daily supervision and direction of participants.
  • Have a working technical knowledge of cheerleading and some football.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to teach dancing, stunting, tumbling, cheering.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches 5-11 year olds sideline cheers, choreography & prepare them for end of season cheer performances.
  • Coaches the cheer squad in proper techniques to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Choreographs routines for cheer groups to enhance fan involvement at Youth Sports events.
  • Attends all required meetings and trainings for professional development.
  • Understands physical safety issues of each participant.
  • Communicates with parents, participants, and coaches.
  • Maintains accurate attendance/improvement records for each participant.
  • Sets up and tears down program area.
  • Exhibits patience, maturity, and dependability.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the site supervisor or head coach.
  • Utilize the Rockford Park District's HRIS system for all HR and payroll-related requirements and to accurately clock in and out for all shifts.

Position Description: Teaches children ages 5-11 cheers and routines, ensures safety, promotes a fun environment, and communicates with parents and participants.

Critical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
