Applicants should demonstrate expert content knowledge and success in coaching their respective sport at the high school level. An ideal candidate will understand the benefits of an educational interscholastic athletic experience with a specific focus on player growth development. NYS certification in physical education or coaching license is required.

Qualifications

• Assist in the organization and supervision of a cheerleading program.
• Previous successful coaching experience in cheerleading.
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of cheerleading and a willingness to examine new theories and procedures.
• Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.

Reports To

The Athletic Director and Varsity Head Cheerleading Coach.

Job Goal

To instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training for individual and team success, while promoting character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride. Continually upgrade coaching knowledge through clinics, observations, and consultations.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Implement athletic policies approved by the Scarsdale Public Schools' Board of Education.
• Know and enforce system, state, and league regulations.
• Prepare for scheduled sport events or practices and adhere to facility times.
• Mentor athletes to promote trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
• Monitor grades and conduct of student athletes.
• Follow procedures for injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
• Manage equipment and instill respect for school property.
